Church Street at Night
Oil on Canvas, 18" x 14"
September, 1999
A night painting on Church Street, a pedestrian mall in the middle of downtown Burlington. Visible are a perfume store, a law office, and the Frog Hollow state craft center.
The guy on the right with the duffel bag was one of many young, rootless wanderers from the Pacific Northwest who would come in for the summer on an informal derelict exchange program. He wandered into the picture one night and was kind enough to stay in place long enough for me to paint him in.
