College Street

A springtime view of College Street near the middle of Burlington, looking west up the hill towards the campus of St. Michael's college. Visible on the right are a local church, the public library, and courthouse; the building on the left is a clothing boutique. Vermont spring doesn't really set in until early May; this dun-colored landscape is typical of the months from February to April.

This picture marked my first attempt at painting cars from life; typically I would block in the rough outlines of a car in each spot, then wait for someone to park and max out the meter before filling in the rest.
