Dave Winer claims a scoop - Microsoft is out to unseat Google. I would refer Dave to a post I wrote last month, where I mentioned that MS is actively recruiting for a Google killer. Not to mention that Microsoft has made no secret of their new search efforts.
Meanwhile, here's Dave on May 15:
And Microsoft isn't going to swarm Google from the center, they're going to attack from the desktop. The vehicle will be Longhorn, the next version of Windows
Whoops.
Dave does offer one piece of new information, courtesy of an anonymous source, which is that Microsoft made Google an informal buyout offer. But this "scoop" business - well, it's annoying when people don't read before they write.
